Tenille Townes

Union Stage, Washington, DC - April 29, 2022

In March 2021 I wanted to get out of the DC area and just take in some music and photograph some shows, so I went to Nashville for the better part of a week. Whenever I would walk from my hotel to south Broadway to look for shows I would see giant banners hanging off of either the arena or the Country Music HoF building (can’t remember which) and one was of Tenille Townes. I knew who she was but hadn’t really listened to her music yet. I fell in love with her voice the first time I listened to The Lemonade Stand. This was the second time I’ve seen her live now, the first was when she opened for the Brothers Osborne at The Anthem in late 2021. She came back to headline a tour and this was a comparatively small and intimate show with a great crowd which obviously loved Tenille as much as I did. There are some artists I go to see anytime they come to town and I’m adding Tenille to that list (I used to say R.E.M. could put out a blank tape and I’d buy it). I believe Dolly Parton would call Tenille a firecracker and she’d be right. Taken with my Canon EOS R.
